AZ-02 — Assess the evidence

Unit Zero · Lesson 2 of 4

Separate records, assertions and professional determinations.

A manager supplies a document, an email says consent has been obtained and another note anticipates a professional report. These are different information states. Existence does not prove currency or completeness; an assertion does not prove authority; an anticipated report is still outstanding.

Record source identity, version, author, relevant date and limitation. Keep contradictions visible. A professional determination should identify its actual maker, scope and evidence rather than inherit the status of a tracker.

Try it

Classify the three items above. State what further evidence would justify changing each status.

Reflection guide

The supplied document is a source record requiring checks. The consent email is an assertion pending the actual relevant evidence and authority. The anticipated report is an outstanding determination, not a completed one. A record can support more than one assertion without proving all of them.

General education using entirely fictional examples. No client outcomes, legal, title, valuation, investment, lending or technical determination is established. Authorised professionals retain their responsibilities. No third-party reliance or engagement is created.
